Hoosier Science & Engineering Fair

We’re excited to announce the 38th Annual Hoosier Science & Engineering Fair, taking place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at IU Indianapolis – Hine Hall (568–598 Blake St, Indianapolis, IN 46202). Find more information here!
We are seeking judges to evaluate student projects. Judges will receive access to student e-portfolios the week prior to the fair to support interview preparation. Sign up to judge here: sefi.org/judging
Judge Qualifications:
• High School Division (Grades 9–12): B.A./B.S. plus 3 years of experience, or an advanced degree.
• Junior/Elementary Division (Grades 4–8): Currently enrolled in college or holds a B.A./B.S. or higher.
• Scientists, engineers, educators, researchers, and graduate students are all welcome.
• Judges should be available from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM on the day of the fair.
• Special Awards Judges may leave after submitting their selections.
We also invite organizations to sponsor Special Awards to recognize outstanding student work. This is a great way to encourage bright young scientists.

Biomed Research Night-McKenzie Center for Innovation and Technology

The McKenzie Center for Innovation and Technology is holding a Biomed Research Night for its students. Please reach out to vsantana@iu.edu if interested. The following are needed:

Shadowing experiences for senior students:

  • One or two students together any time in March, April, or May
  • 6 hours total is needed, but can be split between multiple labs

A Senior High School Biomedical Science Guest Speaker:

  • Any time in April or May

Sponsor for the Senior Biomed Research Night for the students:

  • A guest speaker is needed for the event on April 20th- 6pm
  • Refreshments and poster session with 70 students, parents, and a community audience.
